From the vast maritime coast to the hilly interior, this region, where the white wines predominate, is the cradle of fresh and full-flavoured wines. The region stretches across north-western Portugal, in the area traditionally known as Entre-Douro-e-Minho. In terms of geographical area, the Vinhos Verdes region is the largest demarcated Portuguese region, and one of the largest in Europe. Its tourism is nowadays based on quality and uniqueness.
